A True Story

Short Films Block: Roots & Memories

April 4, 2019 @ ACUDkino 20h

A Whats-App conversation which the filmmaker held with a man about his time in a Peruvian prison, is enacted by real-life gatekeepers and security guards. Those men are being confronted with stories from an imprisonment that is not their own. Their everyday work serves as a backdrop for these stories. Being the narrative and memory of a single man initially, this personal story subsequently fans out to be shared by many. Those various recollections put together create a multi-perspective web. The illusion of a collective remembrance arises, the utopia of a shared memory.
